About the organiser
Insert Coins e.V. is a non-profit association preserving gaming history you can actually touch. Its clubhouse is located in the pedestrian zone of Herne-Mitte, just a few steps from the Herner Höfe and around 300 metres from the station.
On over 1,100 square metres stand around 120 video arcade machines and racers, 60 pinball machines, 60 retro PCs, 80 consoles, music games and a Mario Kart wall. All machines are set to free play — nothing needs to be inserted.
Open on designated opening days, plus the Feierabendzock (after-work session) on the Friday of the preceding week and the VIP Flipper Friday on the following Friday. Tickets are available in advance only, numbers are limited, and dates are often sold out quickly.
In 2025 the association moved from Herne-Wanne to Bahnhofstraße. First-time visitors can request a short tour; the exhibition is on the ground floor and accessible via a ramp.
